Dear Creative, Subscriber, and Graphic Design Entrepreneur,
This is the free edition of Monetize With Design where we share the foundations of how to build a successful graphic design business.
Last week, in the paid edition I outlined the secret to high-paying, high-value graphic design clients and how we can sell our services without sounding desperate.
This masterclass was delivered last Thursday, and another paid edition is coming this week also as promised.
I highly recommend you read the premium masterclass post before after you read this because it is going to outline how we unlock the high paying clients after I give you the foundations in this post.

How to Sell Graphic Design Services Without Sounding Desperate
Graphic designers who make the big bucks don’t sound desperate when speaking to potential clients.
Let me share with you the two methods to finding graphic design clients on the internet.
The first is my least favourite method, but I will speak about it because it does work.
Outreach
Personally, I dislike this method for many reasons.
The first is that it may lead to clients who don’t value our services.
Think about it for a second. Here’s a scenario:
A car salesperson approaches you today and wants to try and sell you a BMW, but owning a car isn’t high on your priority list at the moment, however, you proceed because you wouldn’t mind owning a BMW…
You are not going to accept the salespersons first offer no matter how good they are at their job. This is because you hold the power to walk away because owning a BMW isn’t high on your priority list.
You are going to try and bargain a cheaper price to make it worthwhile. You may even wish to have multiple test drives and put more milage on the clock before you purchase it in full.
Imagine this as a graphic designer. You are trying to sell your service to somebody who doesn’t really require it, and you may have to convince them that they need it.
We are making things hard for ourselves.
This is the second reason I don’t like outreach. It requires too much effort.
We want our graphic design business to run on autopilot, right?
Inbound Leads
This is where it is at.
With inbound leads, we control our own destiny by building our audience and positioning ourselves at the expert.
Once you have over 10,000 followers on a platform, you are trusted a lot more with your services.
Sure, I see lots of designers on X crying about how:
“I’ve seen better designers with 10 followers than I have designers with 20,000 followers”
And sure, this may be true in some cases.
But you and I both know this is not how the world works when it comes to the attention economy.
You may be a graphic designer who offers a 10/10 service, but the person who offers an 8/10 service who has the big blue tick and a larger audience who is shouting louder than you do is going to win here.
Don’t hate the player, hate the game.
The most effective way to gain clients as a graphic designer is through inbound leads.
Now, if you want to learn the secrets how to grow your audience to 10,000+ followers and learn exactly how you gain these inbound leads to run your own graphic design business with freedom, then I recommend you upgrade your membership today.
